Surround us, O Lord, with the power of your precious and life-giving Cross, and protect us from all evil.
Surround us, O Lord, with the power of your precious and life-giving Cross, and protect us from all evil.
No sooner was the wood of your Cross set up, Christ our Lord, than the foundations of death were shaken. That which Hades had swallowed in eagerness, it now let go with trembling! You have shown us your salvation, O holy One, and we glorify you.
Lord, give rest to the souls of your departed servants, in a place of brightness, refreshment, and repose; where all suffering, sorrow, and sighing have fled away.
Lots of people know John 3:16, but John 3:17 is equally important. When you read the two verse together, it’s clear that verse 17 completes the teaching:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3:16-17)
“But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” (Galatians 6:14)
